How it Works

How is a Resin Driveway Installed?
  • TEST A resin bound driveway or patio by Eco Driveways is laid using a unique technique that binds resin to decorative aggregates. The aggregate we use are pre washed and dust free before they are delivered to your property. We only use the highest quality UV stable resin binder (meaning our resin will not crack or discolour under sunlight)
  • Once onsite we brush off any debris and prime the clean surface. The correct amount of resin binder and aggregate are thoroughly mixed together in a forced action mixer before being installed via a trowelled method
  • After 24 hours your Resin Bound Eco Driveway will be fully cured. But will be suitable for pedestrian traffic after just 4-6 hours and light vehicular use after 12-16 hours. During the winter these times may be longer due to the colder weather.
How is it Eco Friendly?
  • Eco Driveways uses a system that complies with the latest Sustainable Urban Drainage (S.U.D.s) regulations. This means that our Resin Bound system is fully permeable and will help the run of water to drain freely through the surface and back into the earth below thus helping to prevent flooding.
  • Our permeable systems can even be laid/mixed using recycled materials such as plastics, rubber and recycled glass, giving the Resin Bound system a very green and eco friendly appeal.

Types of Installations

Overlay

As you will have a stable base or surface in the form of your original drive, we can create a resin driveway simply by overlaying the Resin Bound Surface on top of the original.

As long as the original surface is in good standing and there are no cracks etc, this type of resin drive is the easiest and quickest installation there is. Because we are going over the original driveway there is no planning permission needed.

Full Excavation

This style of Resin Bound Surface requires a full excavation of the area to a depth of approximately 250mm, this is then back filled with type 1 mot hardcore and compacted, a sub base of porous tarmac or concrete is installed leaving approximately 18-20 mm.

We also recommend having block paving edges which gives a fantastic finish. We then install the resin over the porous tarmac or concrete in the same way as a resin overlay.
